Empathy is crucial in understanding others' struggles from "summary" of 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher

In his novel "13 Reasons Why," Jay Asher portrays the importance of empathy in comprehending the challenges faced by others. Throughout the story, the characters struggle with their own issues, and it is through empathy that they are able to connect with and understand each other on a deeper level. One example of this is when Clay Jensen, the main protagonist, listens to the tapes left behind by Hannah Baker, a girl who took her own life. For instance, Jessica Davis, who is dealing with her own trauma, is able to empathize with Hannah and the pain she went through. This empathy allows Jessica to see Hannah in a different light and understand the reasons behind her actions.
