Let go of comparison and judgment from "summary" of 101 Essays That Will Change the Way You Think by Brianna Wiest

When we constantly compare ourselves to others, we are essentially telling ourselves that we are not enough as we are. We are saying that our worth is contingent upon how we measure up to someone else. But the truth is, there is no standard by which we should be judging ourselves. Each person is unique, with their own strengths and weaknesses, their own journey to travel. When we let go of comparison, we free ourselves from the prison of constantly trying to be someone we are not. We can finally embrace our true selves and live authentically. Judgment is another trap that we often fall into. We judge ourselves for not being perfect, for making mistakes, for not living up to some ideal that we have created in our minds. But the reality is that perfection is an illusion. We are all imperfect beings, learning and growing every day. When we release judgment, we allow ourselves the grace to be human, to make mistakes, and to learn from them. We no longer hold ourselves to impossible standards, but instead, we accept ourselves with compassion and understanding. Comparing ourselves to others and judging ourselves harshly only serves to diminish our self-worth and rob us of our joy. It prevents us from fully embracing who we are and celebrating our own unique gifts and talents. When we let go of comparison and judgment, we open ourselves up to a world of possibilities. We can finally see ourselves for the amazing individuals that we are, with our own unique contributions to make to the world. So let go of comparison and judgment. Embrace yourself fully, with all your flaws and imperfections. Celebrate your uniqueness and allow yourself to shine brightly in your own light. When you release the need to measure up to others or to some ideal standard, you will find a newfound sense of freedom and self-acceptance. You are enough, just as you are.
