Cultivate a sense of gratitude and wonder from "summary" of Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind by Shunryu Suzuki

When we practice Zen, we must have a big mind. We must put ourselves in the position of appreciating things. When we do this, we will have a sense of gratitude and wonder towards everything that comes into our lives. Whether it is good or bad, we should simply appreciate it. This is the way to cultivate a peaceful and joyful mind. Gratitude is an important quality to develop in our practice. It allows us to see the beauty and richness of life, even in the small and seemingly insignificant things. When we have a sense of gratitude, we are able to see the interconnectedness of all things and appreciate the beauty of the present moment. Wonder is another quality that is essential in our practice. When we approach life with a sense of wonder, we are able to see things with fresh eyes and an open heart. We are able to appreciate the mystery and magic of life, and we are filled with a sense of awe and reverence for the world around us. By cultivating a sense of gratitude and wonder, we are able to approach life with an open mind and a kind heart. We are able to see the beauty and richness of each moment, and we are able to appreciate the interconnectedness of all things. This is the way of Zen practice - to cultivate a mind that is open, grateful, and full of wonder.
