Yoga and Ayurveda are sister sciences from "summary" of Yoga and Ayurveda by David Frawley

Yoga and Ayurveda are sister sciences, born of the same spiritual tradition in ancient India. They are like two sides of the same coin, each complementing and supporting the other in the pursuit of health, healing, and self-realization. While Yoga focuses on the spiritual aspect of life through practices such as asana, pranayama, and meditation, Ayurveda is concerned with the physical body and its balance through diet, herbs, and lifestyle recommendations. Together, they provide a comprehensive approach to well-being that addresses the body, mind, and spirit. In Yoga, the emphasis is on purification and discipline to prepare the mind and body for higher states of consciousness. Ayurveda, on the other hand, seeks to maintain health and prevent disease by understanding and balancing the individual's unique constitution, or dosha. Through the practice of Yoga, one can enhance the efficacy of Ayurvedic treatments and vice versa. Yoga helps to increase prana, or life force energy, in the body, which in turn supports the healing process in Ayurveda. Similarly, Ayurveda provides a strong foundation for Yoga practice by ensuring that the body is in optimal health and balance. Both sciences share a common goal of promoting longevity, vitality, and spiritual growth. By integrating Yoga and Ayurveda into our lives, we can experience a profound sense of well-being and harmony that extends beyond the physical realm.
