Health and knowledge go hand in hand from "summary" of Yoga and Ayurveda by David Frawley

Health and knowledge are not two separate aspects of life, but are deeply interconnected and interdependent. When we speak of health, we should also consider knowledge, and when we speak of knowledge, we should also consider health. This is because the two are like two sides of the same coin, each influencing the other in a profound way. Health is not merely the absence of disease, but a state of complete physical, mental, and emotional well-being. To achieve this state of well-being, we must have the knowledge of how to maintain balance in our lives. This knowledge includes understanding our own body-mind constitution, knowing what foods are suitable for us, and being aware of how our thoughts and emotions affect our health. Likewise, knowledge is not just the accumulation of information, but the wisdom to apply that information in a way that brings about positive change in our lives. This wisdom includes knowing how to take care of our bodies, minds, and spirits, and how to live in harmony with nature and the universe. In the ancient traditions of Yoga and Ayurveda, health and knowledge are considered to be inseparable. According to these teachings, true health is not possible without knowledge, and true knowledge is not possible without health. This is because a healthy body and mind are necessary for the pursuit and attainment of knowledge, and knowledge is essential for maintaining and enhancing our health. When we cultivate knowledge, we become more aware of our bodies, minds, and the world around us. This awareness helps us make informed choices that support our health and well-being. Conversely, when we prioritize our health, we are better able to focus on acquiring knowledge and wisdom that can enrich our lives.
  1. Health and knowledge are like two wings of a bird - both are necessary for our overall well-being and growth. When we neglect one, the other suffers, leading to imbalance and disharmony in our lives. Therefore, it is crucial to nurture both our health and knowledge in order to live a fulfilling and meaningful life.
