Dealing with criticism from "summary" of Yes Please by Amy Poehler
Criticism is everywhere. It comes at you fast and often, like a swarm of bees. Sometimes it's constructive, sometimes it's just mean. It can be hard to know how to handle it. Do you ignore it? Punch back? Cry in your car? It's a constant challenge for anyone in the public eye. But here's the thing: criticism is a part of life. And yes, it sucks. But it's also a sign that you're doing something right. If you're putting yourself out there, taking risks, and trying new things, you're going to get criticized. It's inevitable. But it's also a sign that you're making an impact, that you're pushing boundaries, that you're not just sitting back and playing it safe. So how do you deal with it? Well, for starters, you have to develop a thick skin. You have to be able to take a hit and keep going. You have to remember that not everyone is going to like you, and that's okay. You can't please everyone, so you might as well please yourself. And if you believe in what you're doing, if you're proud of the work you're putting out into the world, then criticism won't be able to touch you. It'll still sting, sure. But it won't knock you down. Another thing to remember is that criticism often says more about the person giving it than it does about you. People who criticize others are often dealing with their own insecurities and issues. They're projecting their own fears and doubts onto you. So don't take it personally. Don't let it get under your skin. Remember that you're the one putting yourself out there, taking risks, and trying new things. You're the one making a difference in the world. And that's something to be proud of. In the end, dealing with criticism is all about perspective. It's about seeing it for what it is: a sign that you're doing something right, a reflection of the critic's own issues, and a reminder that you're the one in control of your own narrative. So take a deep breath, steel yourself against the swarm of bees, and keep pushing forward. You've got this.Similar Posts
