Seeking external validation leads to disappointment from "summary" of Women Who Love Too Much by Robin Norwood
When we constantly seek validation from others, we are setting ourselves up for disappointment. This is because we are placing our worth and value in the hands of others, rather than within ourselves. We become dependent on external sources to feel good about ourselves, which is a dangerous and unsustainable way to live. Seeking validation from others is like trying to fill a void within ourselves with something that can never truly satisfy us. No matter how much validation we receive from others, it will never be enough to make us feel whole. We will always be left wanting more, constantly seeking approval and recognition from others to feel good about ourselves. This constant need for validation can also lead to unhealthy relationships, as we may be willing to compromise our own values and boundaries in order to please others and gain their approval. We may become trapped in a cycle of seeking validation from others, only to be disappointed when they do not meet our expectations. Ultimately, seeking external validation is a losing battle. We can never control how others perceive us or how much validation they give us. The only way to break free from this cycle of disappointment is to learn to validate ourselves from within. We must cultivate self-love and self-acceptance, and recognize our own worth and value independent of others' opinions. By learning to validate ourselves, we can break free from the constant need for external validation and find true happiness and fulfillment within ourselves. We can let go of the disappointment that comes from seeking validation from others, and instead focus on building a strong sense of self-worth that is unshakeable and enduring.Similar Posts
