Set boundaries and prioritize selfcare from "summary" of Who Says You Can't? You Do by Daniel Chidiac
Establishing clear boundaries and making self-care a priority are essential components of living a fulfilling and empowered life. When we set boundaries, we are essentially defining what is acceptable and what is not in our lives. This could include setting limits on how much time and energy we give to others, and being firm in our decisions. By doing so, we are protecting our mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Prioritizing self-care means recognizing the importance of taking care of ourselves before we can effectively take care of others. This involves making time for activities that nourish our mind, body, and soul, such as exercise, meditation, or spending time with loved ones. It also means learning to say no to things that drain us and setting aside time for rest and relaxation. When we fail to set boundaries and neglect our self-care, we risk burning out and feeling overwhelmed. We may find ourselves constantly people-pleasing, putting others' needs above our own, and feeling resentful as a result. This can lead to feelings of stress, anxiety, and even depression. On the other hand, when we establish clear boundaries and prioritize self-care, we are able to show up as our best selves in all areas of our lives. We are better able to handle challenges, communicate effectively with others, and maintain a sense of balance and well-being. By taking care of ourselves first, we are better equipped to show up for others in a more authentic and compassionate way. In order to set boundaries and prioritize self-care, it is important to tune into our own needs and desires. This may involve reflecting on what truly matters to us, identifying our values, and being honest with ourselves about what we need to feel happy and fulfilled. It may also require having difficult conversations with others and learning to assert ourselves in a respectful and assertive manner.- Setting boundaries and making self-care a priority is an act of self-love and self-respect. It is about honoring ourselves and our needs, and recognizing that we are worthy of the time and attention it takes to nourish our well-being. By doing so, we are able to live a more authentic, empowered, and fulfilling life.
