Healing is a nonlinear journey with ups and downs from "summary" of Wasted by Marya Hornbacher
Healing is not a straight line. It’s not a simple trajectory from illness to health, from despair to happiness. It’s a messy, complicated process that doesn’t follow a predictable path. In my own experience, I’ve found that healing is more like a roller coaster ride, with its highs and lows, twists and turns. There are days when I feel like I’m making great progress, when I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I feel strong, hopeful, and determined to keep moving forward. But then there are days when everything feels overwhelming, when the old thoughts and behaviors creep back in, dragging me down into the darkness once again. It’s frustrating and disheartening, to say the least. It’s hard not to feel like a failure when I take two steps forward and then one step back. But I’ve come to realize that this is all part of the healing process. It’s normal to have setbacks, to struggle with old patterns and habits. It’s all part of the journey towards true healing. I’ve learned to be patient with myself, to be gentle and understanding. I’ve learned to accept that healing is not a linear process, that it’s okay to have ups and downs along the way. The important thing is to keep moving forward, to keep putting one foot in front of the other, even when it feels like I’m going nowhere. So, I remind myself that healing is a journey, not a destination. It’s a process of growth and self-discovery, of learning and unlearning, of facing my fears and embracing my strengths. And even though it’s not easy, even though it’s messy and unpredictable, I know that it’s worth it in the end. Because true healing is not about reaching a certain point or achieving a specific goal. It’s about becoming whole, about finding peace and acceptance within myself.Similar Posts
