The weather in Denmark can be unpredictable and challenging from "summary" of The Year of Living Danishly by Helen Russell

Denmark’s weather is notorious for its unpredictability and challenges. One moment, the sun may be shining, and the next, dark clouds roll in, followed by a downpour of rain. This variability can make planning outdoor activities a risky endeavor, as one never knows when the weather will take a turn for the worse. Despite the Danish people's best efforts to adapt to these conditions, such as dressing in layers and always carrying an umbrella, the weather can still catch them off guard. The harsh winter months in Denmark are particularly noteworthy for their challenging weather conditions. Snowstorms, freezing temperatures, and icy roads can make daily life a struggle for many Danes. The limited daylight hours during this time can also take a toll on people's mental health, leading to what is known as "winter blues" or seasonal affective disorder. Despite these challenges, the Danes have found ways to cope with the winter weather, such as embracing the concept of "hygge" - creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere indoors to counteract the gloomy weather outside. In contrast, the summer months in Denmark can bring a different set of challenges. While the days are longer and the sun shines brightly, the weather can still be unpredictable, with sudden rain showers and cool temperatures. This can make planning outdoor activities during the summer just as risky as in the winter. However, the Danes make the most of the warmer months by spending as much time as possible outdoors, enjoying the fleeting sunshine and taking advantage of the numerous festivals and events that take place during this time.
