Urban areas become overgrown with vegetation from "summary" of The World Without Us by Alan Weisman

In a world without humans, the once bustling urban areas would slowly be reclaimed by nature. Without constant maintenance and intervention, vegetation would begin to encroach upon the concrete jungle that humans had built. As weeds and grasses push through cracks in the pavement, buildings would start to blend in with the surrounding greenery. Trees would take root in abandoned buildings, their roots breaking through walls and ceilings in search of sunlight and water. Eventually, the distinction between what was once a city street and a forest would become blurred. As time passes, the overgrown vegetation would start to reshape the urban landscape.
