On the other hand, if we recognize that our thoughts are just thoughts and not necessarily true, we can choose to respond differently. Self-awareness also helps us tap into our values and motivations. When we are clear about what is important to us and why we want to change, we are more likely to stay committed to our goals. By connecting with our deeper sense of purpose, we can find the strength to resist short-term temptations and stay focused on our long-term vision.
