She starts to let go of her pain from "summary" of The Way I Used to Be by Amber Smith

In the midst of the darkness that engulfed her, she found a flicker of light. It was a tiny glimmer at first, barely perceptible amidst the overwhelming weight of her pain. But as she allowed herself to lean into it, to embrace it, she felt something shifting inside of her. It was as if a dam had been breached, and all the pent-up emotions that had been festering inside of her for so long began to flow freely. The anger, the sadness, the guilt - they all came rushing out in a torrent of tears and screams. It was raw and messy and terrifying, but it was also liberating. For so long, she had clung to her pain like a security blanket, wrapping herself in its familiar embrace even as it suffocated her. But now, as she faced it head-on, as she allowed herself to feel it in all its intensity, she began to realize that she didn't need it anymore. Slowly but surely, she started to let go. She released the grip she had on her suffering, allowing it to slip through her fingers like grains of sand. And as she did, she felt a weight lifting off her shoulders, a burden she had carried for far too long finally being lifted. It wasn't easy, of course. There were moments when she wanted to retreat back into the safety of her pain, moments when the thought of letting go filled her with a sense of panic. But each time she resisted that urge, each time she chose to move forward instead of backward, she felt a little bit stronger. And as the days turned into weeks, and the weeks turned into months, she found herself standing on the other side of her pain, looking back at it from a distance. It was still there, of course, a part of her past that she could never erase. But it no longer defined her. It no longer held her captive. She had let go. And in that letting go, she had found a freedom she had never known before.
