Humanity fights back from "summary" of The War of The Worlds by Hg Wells
And strange as it may seem, that night, the most extraordinary thing that has ever happened to me happened. War, you know, had come to us. And some of us were fighting, and some of us were falling. And my brother was lying dead on the common, struck by some unfamiliar weapon that had thundered through the air. I hardly knew what happened after that. I came out of my house, and found that not only had they all gone, but they had taken my horse and trap, and that they had broken into my house. Then I heard the soft swish of the cylinder, and, looking up, I saw a long tube of metal flying through the air. I had heard of them, but had never seen one before. It was a fighting-machine. We fought with whatever we had, with whatever we could find. We fought with rocks and stones, with makeshift weapons and sheer willpower. And against all odds, against all logic, we started to push back. The alien machines faltered, hesitated, as if they were not prepared for this level of resistance. And in that moment, I knew that we had a chance. A chance to turn the tide, to reclaim our world from the invaders. A chance to show that humanity, for all its flaws, for all its shortcomings, was not to be underestimated. We were not just victims, not just helpless bystanders. We were fighters, warriors, defenders of our planet. And asSimilar Posts
