Time traveler befriends Eloi, learns Morlocks prey on them from "summary" of The Time Machine by H. G. Wells

The Time Traveler, after journeying far into the future, encounters the Eloi, a gentle and childlike people who live above ground in a seemingly idyllic society. Despite their fragile appearance, the Eloi seem to live in peace and harmony, devoid of any worries or conflicts. At first glance, the Time Traveler is captivated by their innocence and simplicity, finding them to be charming and endearing beings. As the Time Traveler spends more time with the Eloi, he begins to notice peculiarities in their behavior and environment. He observes their lack of curiosity and intelligence, their inability to understand or question the world around them. The Time Traveler becomes increasingly intrigued by the Eloi's relationship with the mysterious Morlocks, who live underground and only come out at night. Through a series of events, the Time Traveler uncovers the dark truth about the Morlocks and their predatory nature towards the Eloi. He learns that the Morlocks are the true rulers of this future world, using the Eloi as a source of food and labor. The Time Traveler is shocked and disturbed by this revelation, realizing that the Eloi's seemingly perfect existence is built on a foundation of fear and oppression. As the Time Traveler delves deeper into the society of the Eloi and Morlocks, he grapples with the ethical implications of their relationship and the implications for humanity's future. He is forced to confront the harsh reality of this future world and the consequences of unchecked evolution and societal division. The Time Traveler's discovery of the Morlocks' predation on the Eloi challenges his understanding of morality and the nature of civilization, prompting him to question the future of humanity and the course of history.
