Let go of the need for approval from "summary" of The Subtle Art of Not Giving A - by Mark Manson
In our society, we have been conditioned to seek approval from others. We are constantly seeking validation from our peers, our family, our colleagues, and even strangers on social media. We are obsessed with being liked and accepted by everyone around us. We have this insatiable need for approval that drives our actions and decisions. But the truth is, seeking approval from others is a never-ending cycle. No matter how much approval we receive, it will never be enough. We will always be looking for the next hit of validation, the next pat on the back, the next round of applause. It's an exhausting way to live. When we let go of the need for approval, we free ourselves from this never-ending cycle. We no longer rely on others to validate our worth or our choices. We are able to make decisions based on what we truly believe is right for us, not what others think is right for us. Letting go of the need for approval also allows us to be more authentic and true to ourselves. When we are no longer seeking validation from others, we can be honest about who we are and what we want. We can speak our truth and live our lives in alignment with our values and beliefs. This doesn't mean that we should disregard the opinions of others entirely. It simply means that we should not let the approval of others dictate our sense of self-worth. We can listen to feedback and consider different perspectives, but ultimately, we must make decisions that feel right to us, regardless of what others may think. When we let go of the need for approval, we become more resilient and self-assured. We are able to weather the storms of criticism and disapproval without losing sight of who we are. We are able to stand firm in our convictions and live life on our own terms. It takes courage and self-awareness to let go of the need for approval. But when we do, we open ourselves up to a world of freedom and authenticity. We no longer have to play by the rules of others – we can create our own rules and live by them unapologetically. Letting go of the need for approval is a powerful act of self-love and self-acceptance.Similar Posts
