It’s okay to feel negative emotions from "summary" of The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson

Feeling negative emotions is a natural part of being human. We all experience anger, sadness, frustration, and other unpleasant feelings at some point in our lives. And that's perfectly okay. In fact, trying to suppress or ignore these emotions can actually make things worse. When we try to avoid negative emotions, we end up causing ourselves more pain in the long run. We become so focused on not feeling bad that we actually make ourselves feel worse. It's like trying to hold a beach ball underwater – the harder you push it down, the more force it springs back up with. Instead of trying to fight against negative emotions, we should learn to accept them. By acknowledging our feelings and allowing ourselves to experience them fully, we can actually start to let go of them. It's only when we stop resisting our emotions that we can begin to move past them. Of course, this doesn't mean that we should dwell on our negative feelings or let them consume us. It's about finding a healthy balance between acknowledging our emotions and not letting them control us. By accepting our negative emotions, we can learn from them and grow as individuals. So the next time you're feeling angry, sad, or frustrated, don't beat yourself up for it. Instead, embrace your emotions and allow yourself to feel them fully. It's all part of the human experience, and it's okay to not always feel okay.
