The Stoics believed that one of the fundamental truths of life is the impermanence of everything around us. They understood that change is a natural part of existence, and that clinging to things as if they will last forever is a recipe for suffering. By accepting the impermanence of life, we can free ourselves from the constant struggle against the inevitable. When we realize that everything is transient, we can release our attachments to material possessions, relationships, and even our own identities. This detachment allows us to let go of the fear of losing what we hold dear, and instead focus on appreciating the present moment for what it is. We can learn to cherish the beauty of each experience without trying to hold on to it beyond its natural course.
