The conditions in which the working class of industrial towns like Wigan live are deplorable, to say the least. The lack of proper sanitation, overcrowded and dilapidated housing, and inadequate healthcare facilities all contribute to the compromising of their health. These people are forced to endure circumstances that most of us would find unimaginable. The squalor in which they exist is a testament to the failure of society to provide for its most vulnerable members. Furthermore, the nature of their work only exacerbates their already dire situation. Working in coal mines or factories for long hours under dangerous conditions takes a toll on their bodies. The constant exposure to dust, fumes, and other harmful substances leaves them susceptible to various respiratory ailments and other health issues.
