The foundation for loving others is self-love. This basic premise is often overlooked or outright denied by many individuals. We are taught from an early age that love should be directed outward, towards others. We are conditioned to believe that self-love is selfish, narcissistic, and ultimately destructive. However, this belief is fundamentally flawed. In order to truly love others, we must first love ourselves. This is not a selfish act, but rather a necessary one. Without self-love, our capacity to love others is limited. It is like trying to pour from an empty cup - we simply cannot give what we do not have. Self-love is not about ego or pride. It is about accepting ourselves fully, flaws and all. It is about recognizing our worth and treating ourselves with kindness and compassion.
