Trust your instincts and take bold decisions from "summary" of The Ride of a Lifetime by Robert Iger
When faced with difficult decisions, it can be tempting to seek advice from others or rely on data and analysis to guide your choices. While these can be valuable sources of information, sometimes the best course of action is to trust your instincts and take bold decisions. This requires a willingness to listen to your inner voice and have the confidence to act on it, even when it goes against conventional wisdom. In my experience, some of the most successful decisions I have made have come from following my instincts rather than following the crowd. Whether it was acquiring a new company, launching a new product, or making a strategic pivot, there were many instances where I had to go with my gut feeling rather than rely solely on outside advice or market research. Taking bold decisions also requires a willingness to take risks and embrace uncertainty. It can be easy to play it safe and stick to the status quo, but true innovation and growth often come from pushing the boundaries and stepping outside of your comfort zone. By trusting your instincts and being willing to take calculated risks, you can open yourself up to new opportunities and drive meaningful change in your organization. Of course, not every bold decision will be successful, and there will inevitably be times when you make mistakes or face setbacks. But it is important to remember that failure is a natural part of the process and can often lead to valuable lessons and insights. By learning from your mistakes and staying true to your instincts, you can continue to grow and evolve as a leader.- Trusting your instincts and taking bold decisions is about having the courage to follow your own path and stay true to your vision, even in the face of uncertainty and doubt. It is about embracing the unknown and being willing to take a leap of faith when necessary. By staying true to yourself and having the confidence to make bold choices, you can lead with authenticity and drive lasting impact in your organization.
