To truly live a peaceful and fulfilling life, we must learn to release our ego and detach ourselves from worldly attachments. Our ego is the voice inside our heads that constantly seeks validation, recognition, and control. It is what tells us we are superior to others, that we must always be right, and that we need to hold onto material possessions to feel complete. This ego-driven mindset only serves to create inner turmoil and separation from our true selves and others. Attachments, on the other hand, are the things we cling to in order to find security and happiness.
