Fasting can be a powerful tool in the fight against high insulin levels. When we eat, our bodies release insulin to help store the excess energy in our cells. Over time, however, constantly high levels of insulin can lead to insulin resistance, a condition where our cells become less responsive to the hormone. This can eventually result in type 2 diabetes. By giving our bodies a break from constant eating through fasting, we allow our insulin levels to decrease.
