Ideologues seek to control society from "summary" of The New Science of Politics by Eric Voegelin

Ideologues are individuals who are driven by a desire to impose a particular set of ideas or beliefs upon society. These individuals believe that their ideology holds the key to a utopian society and are willing to go to great lengths to ensure that their vision is realized. In their quest for control, ideologues seek to manipulate and shape the thoughts and actions of the populace in accordance with their own beliefs. By controlling society, ideologues aim to create a homogeneous population that adheres strictly to their ideological principles. Any dissent or deviation from the prescribed ideology is seen as a threat to the unity and stability of the society that the ideologues seek to create. This leads to the suppression of opposing viewpoints and the stifling of individual freedoms, as any form of dissent is viewed as a challenge to the authority of the ideologues. In their pursuit of control, ideologues often resort to propaganda and manipulation to sway public opinion in favor of their ideology. They use various tactics to indoctrinate the population and ensure that their beliefs are accepted without question. By controlling the flow of information and shaping public discourse, ideologues are able to maintain their grip on society and prevent any challenges to their authority.
  1. The goal of ideologues is to create a society that is completely subservient to their ideology, where individual thought and autonomy are sacrificed in the name of the greater good. This relentless quest for control often leads to the erosion of democratic principles and the establishment of authoritarian regimes that brook no opposition. In their single-minded pursuit of power, ideologues are willing to sacrifice the well-being and freedom of the populace, all in the name of achieving their utopian vision.
