Sisyphus finds fulfillment in his task, not its completion from "summary" of THE MYTH OF SISYPHUS by ALBERT CARNUS

Sisyphus, the mythical king condemned to an eternity of rolling a boulder up a hill only for it to roll back down each time he nears the top, embodies the absurdity of the human condition. His punishment seems never-ending, futile, and ultimately meaningless. However, amidst this apparent hopelessness, Sisyphus finds a sense of fulfillment in the very act of pushing the rock. It is not the completion of the task that brings him satisfaction, but the struggle itself. The repetitive nature of Sisyphus's task could easily lead to despair and resignation. One might question the purpose of such a relentless and unrewarding endeavor. Yet, Sisyphus resists this temptation to give in to despair. He does not long for the moment when the boulder finally reaches the top of the hill, as this would mark the end of his purpose. Instead, he finds meaning in the effort, the exertion, and the perseverance required to continue pushing the rock. In embracing the absurdity of his situation, Sisyphus discovers a form of defiance against the gods who have condemned him. He refuses to be defeated by his circumstances, finding a sense of freedom in his acceptance of the absurdity of his existence. By finding fulfillment in the task itself, rather than its completion, Sisyphus transcends his fate and asserts his autonomy in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. Through Sisyphus, Camus presents a compelling argument for embracing the absurdity of life and finding meaning in the act of living itself. He challenges the reader to reconsider their understanding of fulfillment and success, suggesting that true satisfaction can be found not in achieving an end goal, but in the journey towards it. In a world that often seems devoid of meaning, Sisyphus serves as a reminder that we have the power to create our own sense of purpose through our actions and attitudes.
