When we are in the depths of depression, it can feel as though we are trapped in a never-ending cycle of negative thoughts and emotions. It seems impossible to break free from the grip that depression has on us. However, mindfulness offers a way out of this seemingly inescapable prison.
By practicing mindfulness, we can learn to observe our thoughts and feelings without getting caught up in them. Instead of being consumed by our negative emotions, we can step back and simply notice them as they come and go. This shift in perspective allows us to see that our thoughts and emotions are not permanent or all-encompassing. They are just passing events in the mind.
