Gregor's family starts to ignore him from "summary" of The Metamorphosis (Legend Classics) by Franz Kafka,David Wyllie

As Gregor Samsa woke one morning from uneasy dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a monstrous vermin. His family, initially shocked by his new form, soon adjusted to the situation. At first, they continued to communicate with him, bringing him food and attending to his needs. However, as time passed, they began to grow more distant. Gregor's sister, Grete, took on the role of caretaker, but even she soon started to avoid him. She would come into his room quickly, barely acknowledging his presence, and then leave just as swiftly. His parents, too, became less and less interested in him. They would speak about him as if he were not in the room, making plans for his future without consulting him. The once loving and close-knit family now seemed to go about their lives as if Gregor no longer existed. They stopped entering his room altogether, leaving him alone for long stretches of time. Even when they did acknowledge him, it was only to express their frustration and disappointment with his condition. They no longer saw him as their son and brother, but as a burden that they had to endure. As the days went by, Gregor became increasingly isolated. He was left to his own devices, with no one to talk to or care for him. The silence in the house grew louder, echoing the indifference of his family towards him. He longed for their attention and affection, but it seemed that he had become nothing more than a nuisance to them. In this new reality, Gregor found himself alone and abandoned. His family's neglect weighed heavily on him, adding to the despair brought on by his transformation. He was trapped in a body that repulsed those he loved, unable to bridge the gap between himself and his family. And so, he remained in his room, a silent witness to his own isolation and neglect.
