This ability to delay gratification is often seen as a sign of strong self-control. However, the environment in which the child is placed can have a significant impact on their ability to exercise self-control. For example, children who are in a more chaotic or unstable environment may struggle to delay gratification, as they may not have the necessary resources or support to do so.
