Let's say you're standing in a garden, and there are two trees in front of you. One tree is full of ripe, juicy fruits, while the other tree has barely any fruit on its branches. If you were to focus all your attention on the tree with little fruit, thinking about what it lacks, you would miss out on the abundance of fruits waiting for you on the other tree. This is similar to how we sometimes approach life - we tend to focus on what we lack or what is missing, instead of being grateful for what we already have. When we shift our focus to gratitude, our perspective changes. We start to see all the blessings and abundance that surround us, rather than what we perceive to be missing.
