Employ the "Friendship Formula" to deepen connections from "summary" of The Like Switch by Jack Schafer,Marvin Karlins

To deepen connections with others, it is important to employ what we like to call the "Friendship Formula." This formula consists of three key elements: proximity, frequency, and duration. Proximity refers to physical closeness. The closer you are to someone, the more likely you are to develop a connection with them. This can be achieved by simply spending more time with the person, whether it be in a work setting or in a social environment. Frequency is about how often you interact with someone. The more frequently you see or communicate with someone, the more likely you are to form a bond with them. This can be accomplished by making an effort to reach out to the person on a regular basis, whether it be through text messages, phone calls, or in-person meetings. Duration refers to the length of time you spend with someone. The longer you spend with someone, the more opportunities you have to get to know them on a deeper level. This can be achieved by engaging in activities that require a significant time commitment, such as going on a weekend trip together or attending a multi-day conference. By incorporating these three elements into your interactions with others, you will be able to deepen your connections and strengthen your relationships. Remember, the key to using the "Friendship Formula" effectively is to be intentional and consistent in your efforts. So, make an effort to increase your proximity, frequency, and duration with those you want to connect with, and watch as your relationships grow stronger over time.
