Humans are ruled by emotions and irrational behaviors from "summary" of The Laws of Human Nature by Robert Greene

In our daily lives, we like to think of ourselves as rational beings, making decisions based on logic and reason. However, if we were to take a closer look at our actions and behaviors, we would see that emotions play a significant role in influencing our choices. Whether we realize it or not, our emotions often dictate how we react to situations, how we interact with others, and how we make decisions. When we are faced with a stressful situation, our emotions can cloud our judgment and lead us to make impulsive decisions. In these moments, our rational thinking takes a backseat, and we act based on our feelings rather than on careful consideration. This tendency to be swayed by our emotions can have serious consequences, as it can lead us to make choices that we may later regret. Moreover, our emotions can also be easily manipulated by others. People who are skilled at reading emotions can use this to their advantage, influencing our behavior to serve their own interests. They may appeal to our emotions, playing on our fears, insecurities, or desires in order to manipulate us into doing what they want. Furthermore, our irrational behaviors can also be driven by our deep-seated psychological needs and fears. For example, our need for approval or validation from others can lead us to seek out relationships or situations that are not in our best interest. Similarly, our fear of failure or rejection can prevent us from taking risks or pursuing opportunities that could lead to personal growth.
  1. We can begin to gain greater control over our actions and decisions. By becoming more aware of our emotional triggers and learning to manage our impulses, we can make more informed choices that align with our long-term goals and values. Ultimately, by acknowledging the power that our emotions hold over us, we can strive to become more self-aware and intentional in our thoughts and actions.
