Body language plays a big role in charisma from "summary" of The Laws of Charisma by Kurt Mortensen

Charisma is not just about what you say, but also about how you say it. Your body language can speak volumes before you even utter a word. In fact, studies have shown that a significant portion of communication is nonverbal. This includes gestures, facial expressions, posture, and even the tone of your voice. When it comes to charisma, your body language can make or break your ability to connect with others. Imagine a person who slouches, avoids eye contact, and speaks in a monotone voice. Do you find them charismatic? Probably not. On the other hand, someone who stands tall, maintains eye contact, and speaks with enthusiasm is much more likely to exude charisma. One of the key aspects of body language in charisma is confidence. When you stand tall with your shoulders back and your head held high, you signal to others that you are self-assured and in control. This can be incredibly attractive to those around you. Conversely, slouching and avoiding eye contact can make you appear insecure and unsure of yourself. Another important element of body language in charisma is openness. By facing someone directly, making eye contact, and using open gestures, you show that you are engaged and interested in what they have to say. This can help to build rapport and establish a connection with others. On the other hand, crossing your arms, looking away, or fidgeting can signal disinterest or even defensiveness, which can be off-putting to those you are trying to charm. In addition to confidence and openness, mirroring can also play a big role in charisma. Mirroring is the act of subtly mimicking the body language of the person you are interacting with. This can help to create a sense of rapport and empathy, making the other person feel understood and valued. However, it is important to strike a balance and not come across as insincere or inauthentic in your mirroring.
  1. Body language is a powerful tool in the arsenal of the charismatic individual. By paying attention to your posture, gestures, and facial expressions, you can enhance your ability to connect with others and exude charisma. So, next time you are trying to make a good impression, remember that your body language speaks louder than words.
