Prioritize your health and wellbeing from "summary" of The Last Lecture by Jeffrey Zaslow

In life, there are many things that demand our attention and energy. We have work, family, friends, hobbies, responsibilities, and countless other obligations. It's easy to get caught up in the chaos of everyday life and forget to take care of ourselves. We might neglect our physical health, our mental wellbeing, or both. But it's important to remember that our health and wellbeing are the foundation upon which everything else is built. Without them, everything else falls apart. So, it's crucial that we make our health and wellbeing a priority. When we prioritize our health and wellbeing, we are better able to handle the challenges that life throws our way. We have more energy, more focus, and more resilience. We are better equipped to deal with stress, to face adversity, and to overcome obstacles. We are happier, more confident, and more at peace. We are able to show up as our best selves in our work, our relationships, and our lives in general. And when we take care of ourselves, we are better able to take care of others. As they say on airplanes, you have to put on your own oxygen mask before you can help anyone else with theirs. Of course, prioritizing our health and wellbeing is easier said than done. It requires us to make choices and take actions that might be difficult or uncomfortable. It might mean saying no to extra work or social engagements so that we can get enough sleep. It might mean setting boundaries with people who drain our energy or stress us out. It might mean seeking help from a therapist, a doctor, or a support group. It might mean making changes to our diet, our exercise routine, our sleep habits, or our self-care practices. But no matter what it looks like for each of us individually, the important thing is that we do it. We have to make our health and wellbeing a priority, because no one else is going to do it for us. We have to advocate for ourselves, take responsibility for ourselves, and invest in ourselves. We have to remember that we are worth it, that we deserve it, and that we need it. We have to make the time, the effort, and the commitment to taking care of ourselves. In the end, it's the best gift we can give ourselves, and the best gift we can give to the world.
