Family can be both a blessing and a curse from "summary" of The Last Black Unicorn by Tiffany Haddish
Family can be both a blessing and a curse. They can be the ones who lift you up when you're down, who cheer you on when you're chasing your dreams, who have your back no matter what. But they can also be the ones who bring you down, who hold you back, who hurt you in ways that no one else can. It's a complicated dance, this thing called family. Growing up, I thought my family was the best. They were my everything, my whole world. But as I got older, I started to see the cracks in the facade. The secrets, the lies, the dysfunction that lurked beneath the surface. It was like peeling back the layers of an onion, each one revealing a new kind of pain. My mother, the woman who brought me into this world, who was supposed to love and protect me above all else, was the source of so much of that pain. She was a force of nature, larger than life, with a temper that could flare up in an instant. She made me laugh, she made me cry, she made me wonder if I was ever going to be good enough for her. And then there were my siblings, my brothers and sisters who I thought would always have my back. But as we grew older, we grew apart. Jealousy, competition, resentment - these things festered between us like an infected wound, poisoning our relationship until it was beyond repair. But despite all the pain and heartache, I wouldn't trade my family for anything in the world. They are a part of me, for better or for worse. They have shaped me, molded me, made me who I am today. And for that, I will always be grateful. Family can be a blessing, a curse, a complicated mess of love and pain. And I wouldn't have it any other way.Similar Posts
