In the male-dominated society of ancient Greece, women were considered inferior to men in almost every aspect of life. They had very limited rights and were expected to fulfill traditional roles as wives and mothers. Women were not allowed to participate in the political life of the city-state, as citizenship was reserved exclusively for men. They were also excluded from most public events and ceremonies, and their opinions were rarely sought or valued. In terms of legal rights, women had very few protections.
