Choose authenticity from "summary" of The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown

Authenticity is a choice that we must make every single day. It's not a one-time decision or a destination that we arrive at and then forget about. It's a conscious commitment to showing up as our true selves, even when it feels risky or uncomfortable. Choosing authenticity means embracing our imperfections and vulnerabilities, rather than trying to hide or mask them. When we choose authenticity, we let go of the need to constantly please others or seek their approval. We stop pretending to be someone we're not in order to fit in or be accepted. Instead, we honor our own unique voice and values, even if they don't align with those around us. This can be challenging, especially in a world that often rewards conformity and sameness. But the rewards of living authentically are far greater than the costs.
