Creativity is a spiritual practice from "summary" of The Complete Artist's Way by Julia Cameron
Creativity is a spiritual practice because it is an act of faith. When we engage in creative activities, we are tapping into a source of inspiration that is greater than ourselves. This source can be called many things - the Universe, God, Higher Power - but whatever name we give it, it is the driving force behind our creativity. By acknowledging and connecting with this source, we are opening ourselves up to new possibilities and allowing our creativity to flow freely. Creativity is also a spiritual practice because it is a form of self-expression. When we create, we are sharing a part of ourselves with the world. This act of sharing is vulnerable and requires us to be open and honest with ourselves. Through our creativity, we are able to explore our deepest thoughts and emotions, and in doing so, we are able to connect with our true selves on a deeper level. Furthermore, creativity is a spiritual practice because it is a form of meditation. When we engage in creative activities, we are able to enter a state of flow where our minds are fully focused on the task at hand. This state of flow is similar to meditation in that it allows us to quiet the noise of the outside world and connect with our inner selves. In this way, creativity can be a form of spiritual practice that helps us to quiet our minds and connect with something greater than ourselves.- Creativity is a spiritual practice because it allows us to tap into a source of inspiration greater than ourselves, it is a form of self-expression that connects us with our true selves, and it is a form of meditation that helps us to quiet our minds and connect with something greater than ourselves. By acknowledging the spiritual nature of creativity, we are able to approach our creative endeavors with a sense of reverence and openness that allows our creativity to flourish.
