Instead of fostering independence and self-reliance, we foster dependence and fragility. When students are shielded from differing viewpoints and controversial discussions, they miss out on valuable opportunities for growth and learning. Exposure to diverse opinions and perspectives is essential for intellectual development and critical thinking skills. By sheltering students from opposing views, we deny them the chance to engage in meaningful dialogue and expand their understanding of the world.
