Keep the conversation short and focused from "summary" of The Coaching Habit by Michael Bungay Stanier

When it comes to coaching, brevity is your best friend. The longer a conversation drags on, the more likely it is to veer off course. Keeping things short and focused ensures that you stay on track and address the most important points. One way to keep a conversation short and focused is to set a timer. By giving yourself a time limit, you force yourself to cut to the chase and avoid getting sidetracked by irrelevant details. This not only helps you stay on track but also shows respect for the other person's time. Another strategy is to be mindful of your own tendency to ramble. When you catch yourself going off on a tangent, take a moment to refocus and get back on track. Remember, the goal is to have a productive conversation that leads to meaningful insights and action, not to hear yourself talk. It's also important to keep in mind that brevity doesn't mean sacrificing depth. You can still have a meaningful conversation in a short amount of time by being clear and concise in your communication. Focus on the key points you want to get across and avoid getting bogged down in unnecessary details. By keeping the conversation short and focused, you not only save time but also make the most of the time you do have. This approach allows you to cut through the noise and get to the heart of the matter, leading to more productive and impactful coaching sessions.
