Love is a lifelong and evolving process from "summary" of The Art of Loving by Erich Fromm

Love is not something static, it is not something that is achieved and then forgotten. Love is a dynamic and ever-changing force that requires constant attention and effort. It is a lifelong process that must be nurtured and cultivated in order to flourish. Just as a plant needs sunlight, water, and care to grow, so too does love need time, attention, and understanding to thrive. In the beginning stages of a relationship, love may feel easy and effortless. However, as time goes on, the initial spark may fade, and the true work of love begins. It is in these moments that true love is tested, as we are forced to confront our own fears, insecurities, and shortcomings. Love requires us to be vulnerable, to open ourselves up to the possibility of hurt and disappointment. It demands that we be honest with ourselves and with our partners, even when the truth is difficult to hear. As we navigate the ups and downs of life, our love must evolve to meet the challenges that come our way. It is not enough to simply coast along, expecting love to remain the same over time. We must be willing to put in the hard work of self-reflection and growth, to continually strive to become better versions of ourselves. Love is not a destination, but a journey that we embark on together, hand in hand, through the highs and lows of life. In order to truly love another person, we must first learn to love ourselves. This means accepting ourselves for who we are, flaws and all, and striving to become the best possible version of ourselves. Only when we are able to love ourselves unconditionally can we truly love another person in the same way. Love is a mirror that reflects back to us our own innermost desires and fears, and it is only through this process of self-discovery that we can hope to grow and evolve as individuals. In the end, love is a choice that we must make every day. It is a commitment to ourselves and to our partners to always strive for the best possible outcome, even when the going gets tough. Love is not always easy, but it is always worth it in the end. It is through the process of loving and being loved that we are able to truly experience the fullness of life, in all its beauty and complexity.
