Letting go of attachment brings freedom from "summary" of The Art of Happiness by Dalai Lama XIV Bstan-ʼdzin-rgya-mtsho,Howard C. Cutler

Attachment is a common source of suffering for many people. When we become attached to certain outcomes, possessions, or relationships, we set ourselves up for disappointment and discontent. The more we cling to these attachments, the more we suffer when they are not fulfilled. True freedom comes from letting go of these attachments. By releasing our grip on the things we desire, we open ourselves up to a greater sense of peace and contentment. We are no longer bound by the chains of our desires, but instead, we are free to experience life in a more open and accepting way. When we let go of attachment, we are able to appreciate the present moment for what it is, rather than constantly yearning for something else. We can find joy in the simple things, rather than always chasing after the next big goal or accomplishment. This sense of freedom allows us to live more fully and authentically. We are not defined by our possessions or relationships, but by our inner sense of peace and contentment. We are able to let go of the need for external validation and find true happiness within ourselves. In this way, letting go of attachment brings a sense of liberation and empowerment. We are no longer at the mercy of our desires, but instead, we are free to live in alignment with our true selves. By releasing our attachments, we open ourselves up to a world of possibility and potential.
