Prophet Yunus, peace be upon him, was sent by Allah to the people of Nineveh to call them to worship Allah alone and abandon their worship of idols. The people of Nineveh were known for their wickedness and disobedience to Allah, so Prophet Yunus warned them of the impending punishment if they did not repent. However, the people of Nineveh did not heed Prophet Yunus's message and continued in their sinful ways. Feeling frustrated and thinking that they would not change, Prophet Yunus left them without seeking Allah's permission. He boarded a ship and set sail, leaving the city behind. While Prophet Yunus was on the ship, a storm began to rage, and the sailors knew that the storm was a punishment from Allah. They cast lots to determine who was the cause of the storm, and the lot fell on Prophet Yunus.
