Prophet Lut and the people of Sodom from "summary" of Stories of the Prophets by Ismāʻīl ibn ʻUmar Ibn Kathīr

Prophet Lut was sent to the people of Sodom, who were known for their wickedness and immoral behavior. They engaged in acts of homosexuality and other heinous crimes, disregarding the laws of Allah and the natural order of things. Prophet Lut warned them of the consequences of their actions and called them to repentance, but they mocked him and persisted in their evil ways. The people of Sodom refused to listen to the message of Prophet Lut, and their corruption only increased over time. They openly practiced their immoral deeds and flaunted their disobedience to the divine laws. This behavior angered Allah, and He decided to punish them for their sins. Allah sent angels in the form of handsome young men to Prophet Lut to deliver a message. When the people of Sodom saw these strangers, they approached Prophet Lut and demanded that he hand them over for their sinful desires. Prophet Lut was distressed by their wicked intentions and pleaded with them to fear Allah and not commit such abominable acts. The angels revealed their true identities to Prophet Lut and informed him of the impending punishment that would befall the people of Sodom. They instructed him to leave the city with his family and not to look back. Prophet Lut obeyed the command of Allah and departed from Sodom with his family, except for his wife who was doomed due to her disbelief and attachment to the sinful city. Allah unleashed a severe punishment upon the people of Sodom, destroying them completely for their disobedience and immorality. The city was overturned and pelted with stones, and its inhabitants were annihilated. The punishment of Sodom serves as a warning to all those who defy the laws of Allah and engage in sinful behavior, emphasizing the consequences of such actions in the eyes of the Almighty.
