Eve's creation from "summary" of Stories of the Prophets by Ismāʻīl ibn ʻUmar Ibn Kathīr
When Adam found himself alone, and there was no partner or companion with him in Paradise, Allah, the Exalted, created Eve from Adam's rib. This was a great favor from Allah to Adam, as He made Adam's wife a means of comforting him. Allah, the Exalted, says: "And among His Signs is that He created for you wives from among yourselves, that you may find comfort in them, and He placed between you affection and mercy" (Quran 30:21). Adam woke up from sleep to find a woman with fair complexion and beautiful appearance looking at him. He asked her, "Who are you?" She replied, "A woman." He asked, "Why have you been created?" She answered, "So that you could find comfort in me." He then asked, "Why do I find you so pleasing?" She replied, "Because of your nature." Adam's soul was put at ease with her company, and he found comfort in her. Eve was a blessing to Adam, as she was created to be his companion and partner in Paradise. The creation of Eve from Adam's rib signified the bond of marriage and the unity of husband and wife. This union was meant to bring affection and mercy between them, as Allah had ordained. Adam and Eve were the first couple on Earth, and their relationship served as a model for all subsequent marriages. Eve's creation from Adam's rib also symbolizes the closeness and intimacy between husband and wife. They are meant to be partners who support and care for each other, just as Adam and Eve did in Paradise. This bond is a divine gift from Allah, and it is meant to bring love and harmony to the marital relationship.- The creation of Eve from Adam's rib was a divine act of mercy and kindness from Allah. It brought comfort, companionship, and love to Adam, and it established the institution of marriage as a sacred bond between husband and wife. Adam and Eve's relationship exemplified the beauty and blessings of marital unity, and it serves as a timeless reminder of the importance of love and compassion in marriage.
