Living consciously involves being present in the moment from "summary" of Six Pillars of Self-Esteem by Nathaniel Branden

To live consciously is to live in the present moment. It is to be fully engaged with our experience of life as it unfolds, rather than being lost in regrets about the past or worries about the future. When we are present in the moment, we are able to fully appreciate the richness and beauty of life as it is happening right now. Being present in the moment requires us to be aware of our thoughts, feelings, and actions in each moment. It means being mindful of our experiences without judgment or attachment. This kind of awareness allows us to fully engage with life and make conscious choices that are aligned with our values and goals. Living consciously also involves taking responsibility for our thoughts, feelings, and actions. It means recognizing that we have the power to choose how we respond to the events and circumstances of our lives. By being present in the moment, we can make intentional choices that are in line with our authentic selves. When we are present in the moment, we are able to connect more deeply with ourselves and with others. We are able to listen more attentively, communicate more effectively, and build stronger relationships. Being present allows us to truly see and appreciate the people and experiences in our lives, leading to greater fulfillment and happiness. In a world that is often filled with distractions and demands for our attention, living consciously can be a challenge. However, by cultivating mindfulness and practicing presence, we can learn to live more fully and authentically. This kind of conscious living can lead to greater self-esteem, as we learn to value and honor ourselves and our experiences in each moment.
