The idea that humans are not biologically monogamous is a challenging concept for many people to grasp. We have been taught for centuries that monogamy is the natural state of human relationships, but this belief is based more on cultural norms than on scientific evidence. When we look at the actual behavior of our closest primate relatives, we see a very different picture.
