Acknowledging our suffering is the first step towards healing from "summary" of Real Happiness by Sharon Salzberg

In order to heal from our suffering, we must first acknowledge its presence within us. This acknowledgment is not a sign of weakness, but rather a brave recognition of our own internal struggles. By facing our suffering head-on, we can begin the process of healing and transformation. When we acknowledge our suffering, we are not giving in to it or allowing it to consume us. Instead, we are confronting it with a sense of courage and openness. This act of acknowledgment is a crucial first step towards finding peace and healing within ourselves. Through acknowledging our suffering, we are able to truly see and understand the root causes behind it. This self-awareness allows us to address the underlying issues that are contributing to our pain and begin the process of healing from within. By acknowledging our suffering, we are also opening ourselves up to the possibility of healing and growth. When we face our pain with honesty and compassion, we create space for healing to take place and for positive change to occur in our lives.
  1. Acknowledging our suffering is a powerful act of self-love and self-compassion. It is a way for us to honor our own experiences and emotions, and to begin the journey towards healing and wholeness. Through this process of acknowledgment, we can find real happiness and inner peace.
