Avoid falling into the Manipulative Insincerity trap from "summary" of Radical Candor by Kim Scott

One of the biggest traps to avoid when it comes to giving feedback is falling into the Manipulative Insincerity trap. This type of behavior involves saying things that may sound polite and nice on the surface, but are actually insincere and lack any real meaning or depth. It's easy to fall into this trap because we may think we are being kind by sugar-coating our feedback, but in reality, we are doing a disservice to both ourselves and the other person. When we engage in Manipulative Insincerity, we are essentially lying to others about our true feelings or thoughts. We may be afraid of hurting someone's feelings or damaging a relationship, so we resort to giving vague or empty feedback instead. This can create confusion and misunderstandings, as the other person may not know where they stand or how to improve.
