Let go of attachments from "summary" of Quiet Mind by John Coleman

Attachment is a common human experience. We all have things, people, or ideas that we hold onto tightly, fearing their loss or absence. However, this attachment often brings suffering. When we become overly attached, we lose our sense of inner peace and contentment. We are constantly seeking external validation and reassurance, which can never truly satisfy us. Letting go of attachments does not mean abandoning everything in our lives. It means loosening our grip on the things that we believe define us or bring us happiness. By releasing our attachments, we free ourselves from the cycle of craving and aversion. We are no longer controlled by our desires or fears, allowing us to experience life with greater clarity and equanimity. When we let go of attachments, we open ourselves up to the present moment. We can fully engage with life, knowing that change is inevitable and that nothing is permanent. It takes practice to let go of attachments. It requires self-awareness and a willingness to confront our deepest fears and desires. We must be willing to sit with discomfort and uncertainty, trusting that we are strong enough to face whatever comes our way. By releasing our attachments, we create space for new possibilities and growth. We allow ourselves to evolve and transform, becoming more resilient and adaptable. We learn to find joy and fulfillment within ourselves, rather than seeking it in external sources. Letting go of attachments is a journey, not a destination. It is an ongoing practice that requires patience, courage, and compassion. As we continue to release our attachments, we discover a sense of freedom and peace that is unshakeable. We realize that true happiness comes from within, and that we are capable of facing whatever life brings us.
