Your selfimage controls your success from "summary" of Psycho-Cybernetics (Updated and Expanded) by Maxwell Maltz

The image you hold of yourself - your self-image - is like a mental blueprint that controls your success. This image determines what you can and cannot achieve in life. It shapes your actions, decisions, and behaviors. If you see yourself as a failure, you will act like a failure. If you see yourself as successful, you will act like a success. Your self-image is a powerful force that influences every aspect of your life. Imagine your self-image as a thermostat that regulates your behavior. Just like a thermostat maintains a certain temperature in a room, your self-image maintains a certain level of success in your life. If you have a low self-image, you will continually sabotage yourself and prevent yourself from achieving your full potential. On the other hand, if you have a high self-image, you will strive for success and overcome any obstacles in your way. Your self-image is not fixed or permanent. It can be changed and improved through self-awareness and self-acceptance. By identifying any negative beliefs or self-limiting beliefs you hold about yourself, you can begin to challenge and change them. Replace those negative beliefs with positive affirmations and visualize yourself achieving your goals. Over time, your self-image will shift, and you will start to see yourself in a new light. To change your self-image, you must also change your self-talk. The way you talk to yourself has a profound impact on how you see yourself. If you constantly berate yourself and focus on your flaws and failures, you will reinforce a negative self-image. Instead, practice positive self-talk and focus on your strengths and successes. Treat yourself with kindness and compassion, just as you would a friend.
  1. Your self-image controls your success because it shapes your beliefs, attitudes, and actions. By cultivating a positive self-image and believing in your own potential, you can achieve any goal you set for yourself. Remember, you are capable of greatness, and it all starts with how you see yourself.
